On the 4^th of March the Institute of Folklore of ANAS and the Institute of Literature named after Nizami Ganjavi jointly organized a presentation of the new edition of the book “Spring holiday” by prominent literary critic, professor Mirali Seyidov.

First, the exhibition of books by Professor Mirali Seyidov was visited.  The presentation was attended by employees of the Institutes of the Department of Humanitarian Sciences of ANAS, the leadership of the publishing house “Salman Mumtaz”, the well-known scientists, intellectuals, doctoral and post-graduate students and mass media representatives.

Opening the event, deputy Director of the Institute of Literature named after Nizami Ganjavi, PhD in Philology, associate professor Mehman Hasanli spoke about the rich scientific heritage of Professor Mirali Seyidov and the scientist’s research in the direction of mythology. Mehman Hasanli mentioned that the activity of the great Azerbaijani scientist on literary relations, the articles on Turkic-speaking tribes and views on mythology play an invaluable role in enriching our national thinking and promoting the worldview of Azerbaijanism.

Then the Director of the Institute of Folklore of ANAS, PhD in Philology, associate professor Hikmat Guliyev appreciated the book “Spring holiday” as a valuable source reflecting the mythological studies of professor Mirali Seyidov, his views about literature and folklore studies. He mentioned in this work that the scientist seriously examined the approach to the issue from a scientific perspective in the context of human-nature relations and in his mythological views there was also a concept of national history.

Hikmat Guliyev mentioned that the researches by Professor Mirali Seyidov about the literary relations, mythology, etymology and ethnogenesis were relevant for Azerbaijani studies both from the literary-theoretical and cultural-political point of view. He noted that the rich heritage and valuable works of the outstanding scientist were the important scientific sources for the researchers.

Then some scientists spoke about the importance of the book “Spring holiday” by Mirali Seyidov and the importance of its new edition.

At the end, Elchin Seyidov, Professor Mirali Seyidov’s son, made a speech and thanked the organizers and participants of the event for the attention and respect shown to the memory of his father.
