The commemorative event dedicated to the 33rd anniversary of the Khojaly genocide was held at the Institute of Folklore

The memorial event “That night in Khojaly” dedicated to the 33rd anniversary of the Khojaly genocide was held at the Institute of Folklore of ANAS. The National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was played at the event held with the support of the NAP territorial Party Organization. The memory of our martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the freedom and territorial integrity of our motherland and the victims of the Khojaly genocide was commemorated with a minute of silence. Then the documentary film “That night in Khojaly...” prepared by the Folklore studio was shown. The event was opened by the Director of the Institute of Folklore, Associate Professor Hikmet Guliyev. He spoke about the 33rd anniversary of the Khojaly genocide – one of the massacres committed by Armenian usurpers against our people on the basis of ethnic and national discrimination. This massacre was one of the most serious crimes directed not only against the Azerbaijani people, but also against humanity and human values as a whole.

Then the word was given to Khojaly residents Nazim Huseynov and Eldaniz Agayev, who participated in the event as guests. They spoke about Armenian brutality and vandalism as direct witnesses of the horror of the genocide in Khojaly. They noted that although it was impossible to forget and erase from memory what happened in Khojaly that night, seeing free Khojaly today and setting foot on those lands gives great pride and joy.

Later, deputy director of the Institute for scientific work, PhD., associate professor Afag Ramazanova, Chairman of the NAP territorial Party Organization of the Institute of Folklore, PhD., associate professor Ilhama Gasabova, head of Publishing department Mahir Javadli, head of Folklore Studio Mahir Ordubadi mentioned in their speeches that Khojaly tragedy was one of the most terrible and cruel crimes committed against our people and the necessity of legal assessment of this crime at the world level.

At the end the director of the Institute, associate professor Hikmat Guliyev expressed his gratitude to the residents of Khojaly who participated in the event as guests, the photos were also taken.
