The 17th volume of the collection “Southern Azerbaijan Folklore” has been published

By the decision of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Folklore of ANAS the 17th book from the “Southern Azerbaijan Folklore” series has been published. The book includes ashiq epics and sayings from South Azerbaijani folklore. The presented epic and sayings have been recorded in their original form from transliteration and audio files, dialect words and Arabic-Persian expressions have been clarified through a dictionary.

The collection includes the epics “Ahmed and Ibrahim”, “Gergerli Mahammad”, “Koroglu’s Journey to Togat”, “Koroglu’s Journey to Istanbul”, “Koroglu’s Journey to Erzurum” and “Amrah and Selvinaz”, as well as numerous variations of ashiq variations.

The compiler of the 374-page collection, published by the “Elm ve tehsil” publishing house, and the author of the “Foreword” are Doctor of Philology, Associate Professor Matanat Mashallahgizi (Abbasova), the editor is PhD Giymat Maharramli, the texts are collected by Habib Sasanian (Yakamoz), Ashiq Seljuk Shahbazi and Ashiq Huseyn Said.
