A conference dedicated to the 140th anniversary of the birth of prominent literary critic Salman Mumtaz was held
On the 24th of December the republican scientific conference was held on the topic “New history and current problems of Azerbaijani folklore studies” dedicated to the 140th anniversary of the birth of the prominent literary critic, textual critic and bibliographer Salman Mumtaz, jointly organized by the Department of Humanities and the Institute of Folklore of ANAS. The conference, which took place in the assembly hall of the Institute of Manuscripts named after Muhammad Fuzuli of ANAS, was opened by the director of the scientific institution, Academician Teymur Karimli, with an introductory speech. The academician spoke about the importance of the event and said that this year marks the 140th anniversary of the birth of Salman Mumtaz, one of our intellectuals who made great contributions to the study and promotion of Azerbaijani literature and classical heritage. On this occasion, events and conferences were held in many organizations and scientific institutions. However, Salman Mumtaz will always be remembered for his fundamental research in the field of literary and folklore studies and his work in preserving and promoting the cultural heritage of Azerbaijan and his rich legacy will always remain relevant. Then academician Rafael Huseynov and director of the National Museum of Azerbaijani Literature named after Nizami Ganjavi, spoke about the services rendered by Salman Mumtaz in the recognition of our national literature. He mentioned that Salman Mumtaz devoted his life to collecting, interpreting, and preparing for publication the manuscripts of folklore texts, examples of ashiq poetry and representatives of our classical literature.
Then the reports by PhD Shalala Ana Hummatli, Doctor of Sciences Naila Samadova, PhD Khalida Shaigqizi (Mammadova), PhD. Giymat Maharramli, PhD. Afag Aliyeva, PhD. Gumru Shahriyar were made.
The event was also attended by orientalist scholar Urkhun Galabeyli, grandson of Salman Mumtaz.
