The scientific conference dedicated to the “Year of Solidarity for the Green World” was held at the Institute of Folklore of ANAS
On the 1st of November the Institute of Folklore of ANAS organized the scientific conference on the theme “Cult of nature in Azerbaijani folklore” dedicated to the “Year of solidarity for the sake of the Green World”.
Scientific secretary of ANAS Institute of Folklore PhD., associate professor Elchin Abbasov spoke about the importance of declaring 2024 as the “Year of Solidarity for the Green World” and holding COP29 in our country by the relevant Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. He said that the above-mentioned issues set important tasks for all fields of science, including humanitarian and social sciences.
Then the reports were heard. PhD., associate professor Elchin Abbasov made a report on the theme “The motif mountain in ashiq poetry (based on Ashiq Shamshir’s creativity)”. In the report it is spoken about the forms of manifestation of the mountain cult, which is considered a symbol of invincibility and strength in folklore thought, one of the primary natural beings worshiped by Turkic peoples, in Ashiq Shamshir’s creativity and mentioned that ashiq, who poeticizes the mountain directly in unity with human, addressed it as a living being.
Leading researcher of the department of Mythology of the Institute, PhD., associate professor Elchin Galiboglu made a report on the theme “View of nature and human problem in folklore” and it was noted that the unity of human and nature is manifested in the folklore, traditions, ceremonies and rituals of our people.
The reports such as “Nature’s awakening holiday – Novruz” by PhD., associate professor Shakir Albaliyev, “Images related to the element water in Turkic mythology” by PhD., associate professor Aynur Huseynova, “Human-nature relations in Turkic ethno-mythological thought” by Aydin Mustafayev, “Forms of manifestation of the cult of the Sun in Azerbaijani children’s games” by Vusal Abiyev were made.
