The lecture on popularization of science was at the Institute of Folklore

On the 17th of October within the framework of the events held at the Institute of Folklore in the direction of popularization of science in the institutions of ANAS, the head of the department International Relations of the Institute Ali Shamilov delivered a lecture for doctoral students. At the lecture on the theme “From the history of collecting and publishing Azerbaijani folklore” it was noted that the history of passport of folklore texts in Azerbaijan was older than in Europe. The first collector of folklore of Azerbaijan was the poet and philosopher Baba Kuhi Bakuvi, who lived and created during the 10th-11th centuries. He collected and passport the legends about Hallaj Mansur from Khorasan Province.

The researcher also spoke about the later stages of the history of the collection of Azerbaijani folklore, the services of folklorists such as Ahliman Akhundov, Hummet Alizade, Hanafi Zeynalli, Mahammadhuseyn Tahmasib in the direction of collecting and publishing rich oral wealth belonging to our people.

The lecture aroused the interest of the audience, questions on the topic were answered.
