The conference “Our independence is our future” was held
On the 18th of October the International Conference “Our independence is our future” was held on the occasion of the State Independence Day organized by the Faculty of Philology of Azerbaijan University of Languages. Opening the conference, academician Mukhtar Imanov, director of the Institute of Folklore of ANAS, congratulated the participants of the event on the occasion of this glorious holiday – 29th anniversary of the state independence of Azerbaijan. He spoke about the struggle of our people for the restoration of Azerbaijan’s state independence, the bitter consequences of the Armenian terror we faced on the first day of independence. Then the academician spoke about the adoption of the “Constitutional act on state independence” in the National Council on October 18, 1991, and said that the Armenian invaders wanted to undermine our newly gained independence by every means, to break the will of our people. Coming to power again in those years, great leader Heydar Aliyev has done important work for the protection of our independence. Academician mentioned Heydar Aliyev’s famous saying about independence: “The harder it is to achieve independence, the harder it is to protect it!”.
Later he spoke about the unprecedented courage of our glorious army in recent days to liberate the native lands which have been under enemy occupation for 30 years: “Today the brave Azerbaijani army has become one of the strongest armies in the world. The thrusts to the enemy are based on the latest achievements of modern war science. It is no coincidence that the developed countries also admire the successes of our army and consider learning from it”.
M.Imanov brought to the attention of the conference participants that with these consistent victories our victorious army opened a new page in the history of independence. He said that under the leadership of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, the day when our army will fully ensure the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan is not far away.
Then different reports such as “Le chemin menant à l'indépendance et le conflit autour de la région de Karabagh” by professor Ulfat Ibrahim, “Eternal independence of Azerbaijan” by Samra Novruzova, “Vigésimo noveno aniversario de la independencia ha traído alegre” by Sanan Jabbarli, etc. in various languages were listened at.
In addition, dean of the Faculty, Professor Shahin Khalilli and chairman of the virtual journalism department Nargiz Gurbanli expressed their views on the subject. Academician Mukhtar Imanov summarized the reports and opinions and concluded the conference.
