The online meeting “Investigation of the historical importance of Oghuznames”

The online meeting dedicated to the theme “Investigation of the historical importance of Oghuznames” was held by the department “Folklore and written literature” ANAS.
In his speech Head of the Department, corresponding member of ANAS, Honored Scientist Kamran Aliyev noted that Oghuznames were of great importance in terms of protection of people’s thoughts, the clear picture of the world order, the history of struggle for justice, studying the living conditions and life of people.

Scientific secretary of the Nakhchivan Department of ANAS, PhD in philology, associate professor Akram Huseynzade made a report on the theme “Oghuz toponymics and its historical significance”. In the report it is mentioned that the toponymic units found in the text of Oghuznames, including the epos “The Book of Dede Gorgud” opened wide opportunities for determining the geographical area. The special attention was paid to the fact that many place names preserved in the territory of the Autonomous Republic of Nakhchivan coincide with place names found in Oghuzname texts and the etymology of some toponyms was explained. The speeches of some employees such as Doctor of Sciences Islam Sadig, PhD, associate professor Fidan Gasimova, Phd Khayala Agayeva were aimed at further development of forward theses in the report.
At the end the report was recommended to be published in the form of an article.
