20 January martyrs have been remembered at the Institute of Folklore
On the 17th of January the memorial meeting dedicated to the 30th jubilee of 20 January martyrs was held in ANAS Institute of Folklore. The dear memory of martyrs was called with a silence. Opening the meeting with his speech the director of the Institute, the academician Mukhtar Kazimoglu-Imanov said that to celebrate such kinds of days was to return to the history, to think over and over, to study the lesson of the history. The documentary film about the 20th January tragedy prepared by the Folklore Studio of the Institute was shown.
Doctor of Sciences, the associate professor Nizami Muradoglu also shared his thoughts about that tragedy and read the new poem about the martyrs “I call you” written by him lately.
Akif Nasirov, a member of the “January 20 Society”, spoke about the activities of the community and the investigation and promotion of the victims of the tragedy. Head of the Department of “Ceremony folklore”, PhD, associate professor Agaverdi Khalil said that it was the duty of every Azerbaijani citizen to remember the memory of 20th January martyrs. Doctor of Sciences on Philology, the poet Islam Sadig said that he was a living witness to these bloody events. Despite the fact that 30 years have passed, he has read the poem "Crying, Carnation, Crying" in memory of the January 20 martyrs, saying that this terrible event left a deep impression on his heart.
