The scientific seminar on the theme “Place of the genre “bayati” in Azerbaijan music culture”

The scientific seminar on the theme “Place of the genre “bayati” in Azerbaijan music culture” has been held at the International Mugham Center (IMC). The scientific seminar on the theme “Place of the genre “bayati” in Azerbaijan music culture” has been organized by ANAS Folklore Institute and International Mugham Center. At the seminar the department head at the Institute of Folklore, Doctor of Science in Art Studies, professor Naila Rahimbeyli gave the information about the genre “bayati”.
N.Rahimbeyli added that the study and promotion of the bayatis, which are the main part of our national and spiritual wealth, is one of the topical issues of our modern culture.

At the seminar some reports were made by different scientists such as Chairman of Azerbaijan Composers Union, People’s Artist of Azerbaijan, member of ANAS Firangiz Alizade “Bayati genre in the creativity of contemporary composers”, Vice-Chancellor of the National Conservatory of Azerbaijan, professor Lala Huseynova “Bayati in the music of Turkic peoples”, professor Minakhanim Nuriyeva “Bayati as the poetical text”, Abbasgulu Najafzade “Bayati genre in mugham art”, Fattah Khalilzade “Archaic peculiarities of bayati songs”, Ph.D., associate professor Laman Suleymanova “Bayatis in folklore investigations”, Sureyya Agayeva “Azerbaijan Turk mugham and bayatis in the ancient and middle ages”.
The scientific reports introduced at the seminar can be the scientific source for the study of the bayati genre and may open new perspectives for future studies.
