The first event of the project “Epos Evenings” was held
The first event of the project “Epos Evenings” was held on the 18th of April in the International Mugham Center. In the opening of the event organized by ANAS Institute of Folklore and the International Mugham Center the director of the Institute of Folklore, academician Mukhtar Imanov and Director of the Center, People’s Artist Murad Huseynov have taken part. The Director of the Center, People’s Artist Murad Huseynov said that, such events dedicated to the Azerbaijani people’s activity would be held regularly.
Then director of the Institute of Folklore, academician Mukhtar Imanov said that, the project was important for promoting the art of Ashugs. He added that, the art of Ashug had ancient historical roots and had a special place in Azerbaijan folklore. That art had gone through various stages and incorporates many of the intangible cultural values of our people. In 2009, the Ashug art was presented by UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage Included in the Reproducibility List.
It was mentioned that, the project was carried out to create a broad idea of the epos performance and to promote it, as well as to present to the public today’s peculiarities of Ashug art. In his speech Mukhtar Imanov underlined that, the eposes such as “Abbas-Gulgaz”, “Leyli-Majnun”, “Kichik Rza”, “Ashug Ali’s Turkey tour”, “Muhammad-Salbi khanum”, “Amrah-Salbi” would be presented to the audience.
Then the epos “Ali khan-Peri khanim” was presented to the audience by Ashug Galandar Zeynalov, the member of Azerbaijan Ashugs Unity. The ashug was accompanied in balaban by Honoured Culture Worker sardar Mammadli. The epos on the theme family-morality was listened at by the audience very interestingly.
