The scientific conference “The outstanding Azerbaijani folklorist Mammadhuseyn Tahmasib” was held
The scientific conference “The outstanding Azerbaijani folklorist Mammadhuseyn Tahmasib” devoted to the 110th anniversary of Mammadhuseyn Tahmasib was held at the Main building of ANAS on the 5th of October.
The conference was opened by the director of the Institute of Folklore, academician Mukhtar Kazimoglu-Imanov. In his speech the academician told about the famous folklorist Mammadhuseyn Tahmasib’s life and activity.
The visa-president of ANAS, the director of the Institute of Literature named after Nizami, academician Isa Habibbayli mentioned that M.Tahmasib was a folklore theorist. He had criticized the seasonal and ceremonial songs for the first time theoretically. Academician I.Habibbayli told about the scientist’s roles in the generation of folklorists.
The rector of the Institute of Languages, academician Kamal Abdullayev told that he had known M.Tahmasib from his childhood. In his speech he mentioned the interesting facts about the scientist.
The corresponding member of ANAS Kamran Aliyev reported the article “Mammadhuseyn Tahmasib’s school”, professor Maharram Gasimli reported the article “The great man of our folklore caravan”. In his speech the professor told about the scientist’s difficulties and the specific activity principles.
Professor Tahira Mammad told in her article “The conceptual view to the tradition, customs and the ceremony problem in M.Tahmasib’s investigations” about the genesis of Azerbaijan folklore with the ethno-genesis.
Doctor of Sciences Seyfaddin Rzasoy in his article “M.Tahmasib’s place in Azerbaijan folklore-study history” told about the difficult period and the strict influence to Azerbaijan folklore-study.
The conference was continued by the meetings. At the end the certification were given to the members.
