Gadabay folklore samples
The first volume of the new book “Gadabay folklore samples” has been published at the Institute of Folklore. The compilers of the book are the director of the Institute of Folklore, academician Mukhtar Kazimoglu-Imanov and Ph.D. Sabina Isayeva, the author of the “Foreword” is Mukhtar Kazimoglu Imanov. The collectors of the texts are academician Mukhtar Kazimoglu-Imanov, collaborators of the Institute of Folklore Elchin Galiboglu (Imamaliyev), Ramiz Alakbarov, Aynur Gazanfargizi, Ramin Allahverdiyev and Gulnara Tahirova. There are folklore texts collected in different years from the various villages of Gadabay region. The book begins with the parts “Mythological texts” and “Legends”. There are jokes, the magical and the religious tales. In the part “Jokes” one can see jokes about Mullah Nasraddin and about other jokers from Gadabay. There is a special place of the ashug art in Gadabay. In this part one can see texts in the new variants about the meeting between Ashug Alasgar and Ashug Huseyn from Shamkir, Ashug Alasgar’s visits to Nakhchivan and Khinna. There are also texts about Novras Iman in the book. Some parts of the materials are ethnographic texts. There are also texts about the genres such as “Bayati”, “Sayachi sozler”, “Riddles”, “Proverbs and sayings”. The other peculiarity of the book is protecting the characters belonging to the dialect and the accent of the region.
