Online Consultation Meeting on UNESCO Chairs During COVID-19 and Intangible Cultural Heritage was held on the 10th of September in 2021. Professor Ojal Oghuz Chairholder, UNESCO Chair on Intangible Cultural Heritage in Formal and Informal Education, Ankara Hacı Bayram Veli University Background Information opened the consultation. Then agenda Dr. Ahmet Erman ARAL Member of the Chair, UNESCO Chair on Intangible Cultural Heritage in Formal and Informal Education, Ankara Hacı Bayram Veli University continued tha meeting. UNESCO “Ashiq Shamshir” Chair on Folk Music Heritage and Storytelling Traditions, ANAS Institute of Folklore Prof. Dr. Mukhtar IMANOV gave information about the activity of the chair during the pandemic year. He brought to the attention that for the establishment of the academic chair, about 40 scientific and cultural institutions operating in Azerbaijan and in different countries of the world received positive feedback, this chair named after the prominent Ashiq Shamshir of Azerbaijan was the first UNESCO Chair in the world in the traditions of epic. Then, academician noted that this department not only attracts the attention of international researchers to Azerbaijani folk music and epics, but also makes it possible to promote the heritage of Ashiq Shamshir, a prominent representative of the oral folk literature of Karabagh and the musical culture of Karabagh, an integral part of Azerbaijan at the international level.
At the end of his speech, he said that although the pandemic has had some negative impact on the implementation of cultural activities in our country, the Institute of Folklore and the UNESCO Chair operating under the Institute have achieved the realization of various national and international events planned using electronic capabilities. Today’s event will allow UNESCO chairs specializing in intangible cultural heritage to discuss the prospects of new cooperation with each other and take joint steps for joint cooperation.
